"Nafana of Cote D'ivoire (nah-FAH-nah)"

In May you learned of a prayer team of Nafana believers from the coastal city of Abidjan who prayerwalked in three Nafana villages: Soko, Tissie and Kotuyo. They found the greatest openness in Kotuyo, though most of the people there practice a world religion. The people were counseled to pray in Jesus’ name and to follow Him for a year to see if their lives have changed by this time next year when the group plans to return. Pray that their witness will be received, and that many more will be added to the small group of four or so listeners who regularly hear the Bible stories. The prayer team found a surface warm welcome typical for visitors, yet beneath that, a strong resistance to the Gospel. Pray that fortresses of false religion, fetishes and witchcraft will be overthrown in these three villages, and that many will be convicted of their sins and their need to find and get right with God. One pastor with the team noted that when people don’t know they are lost, they won’t try to find salvation. He thinks that is part of the resistance: The people think they are all right if they do religious ceremonies, and they don’t want to hear anything that threatens their worldview and beliefs.
